Naija Eval is independent. It is not affiliated with, sponsored by or endorsed by the Federal Government of Nigeria, the Federal Ministry of Communications, Innovation and Digital Economy, NITDA, NCAIR, Awarri Technologies, Meta, Google, OpenAI, Anthropic or OpenRouter.

Models

  • N-ATLaS language and speech models © Awarri Technologies and the Federal Government of Nigeria, used under the N-ATLaS licence. Naija Eval does not redistribute any model weights. Original models: huggingface.co/NCAIR1.
  • Llama 3.1 8B, Meta, used under the Llama 3.1 Community License. Not redistributed.
  • Whisper Small, OpenAI, MIT licence.
  • Claude Sonnet 5.5 and Claude Haiku 5.5 (Anthropic), Gemini 3.8 Flash (Google) and GPT-6.1 Sol (OpenAI) were reached through OpenRouter under those providers' terms. Their outputs appear only as test results.

Datasets

FLEURS © Google and FLORES © Meta and OLDI, both under the Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike 4.0 licence (CC BY-SA 4.0). Example sentences shown in the report come from FLORES and remain under CC BY-SA 4.0, as do model translations of them shown alongside.
